SIMPLE WORDS

SIMPLE WORDS
Erle Frayne Argonza / Ra

In every production of my pen
Of full narrative or poem
I’m compelled to write in simple
Words that folks could comprehend

It’s no joke to dazzle minds
With jargons and magical words
For just like magic on a wand’s stroke
Will make the denouement outpace
The cognition of the enthusiastic viewer
Will only obscure the thought presented
And leave the consciousness dangling
On rotten vines of superstition and illusion

For I’m supposed to offer
Lines that shatter false images
It’s so that every undertaking
Of thinking and imagining
Will irradiate the knowing viewer
With rays of clarity and concreteness

[Writ. 06 June 1988, Angeles City, Pampanga, on a visit to the Angeles University Foundation.]

REFLECTION
The manner of articulation, whether to be elegant or to be simple in presentation, is really one of personal choice. Being schooled in college in the University of the Philippines, where the ‘school of elegance’ prevailed, I had to consciously remind myself of the full import of writing and speaking with simplicity, thus diverging from my own fellow alumni who bore with them the elegance that was to make marks in their work situations.
I was actually influenced by Albert Einstein who urged theoretical physicists to discourse with simplicity. Having been exposed to theoretical physics and social sciences as a young man, it was a tall order to follow the ‘school of simplicity’. I admitted that at times I veered too far away from it, as my writings turned out too abstruse and complex, unreadable even to my fellow academics (they kept on complaining that they cannot understand an iota of my discourse).
Yet I found out early how Einstein, born a gifted child, was able to present his general and special theories with utter simplicity. If the noblesse theoretician can do it, likewise can I do it. Many spiritual masters actually took the choice of simplicity, even as their being so wise and pure already made them stand out as elegant Beings of Light.
Being simple in articulation doesn’t mean being simplistic. The latter is a flaw of reductionism, which should be avoided. No matter how complex your subject of presentation is, you can simplify it no less and yet show such a complexity before your audience or readers in more digestible verbiage.

WHY NOT HUMILITY?

WHY NOT HUMILITY?
Erle Frayne Argonza / Ra

Why not be humble at all moments
Of association with fellowmen?
Didn’t the shopworker teach you
That one rudiment of survival
Is the intelligent recognition
Of your limitations’ omnipresence
Inspite of endowments of craft & wealth?
For there too are circumstances
That are beyond you grasps
In the snares of Naivete
And may even cause a furor
Of gig and limitless giggle?
For Boastfulness and Arrogance
Are twin eagles of deception
That once they’d lift you aflight
They’d shake you off the winds to crash
Tragically on the solid ground
Of defeat and humiliation?

O! Humility!
You are a noble messenger
That speaks for transparent Security
One that makes a person immensely cherished
By the commonwealth of all men.
[Writ. 05 June 1988, Proj. 8, Quezon City, M.Manila]

REFLECTION
Being an islander in Asia, born a Filipino, I was taught humility as a sublime virtue. As I grew up, I found out that humility is a cross-cultural virtue, taught by sages and gurus of the Teaching. As a lad, I had great love for erudite yet humble persons, and had deep scorn for braggarts and arrogant persons.
The Filipinos are incidentally descendants of ancient Lemurians, who  were gifted with perfecting Karma Yoga even prior to the emergence of the Filipino in the historic landscape. Service and bhakti (devotion) go sublimely together, such traits blossoming well among many of my well-meaning compatriots here. For the servant cum devotion person, humility is a sublime virtue exhibited as natural behavior, it being one of the ‘ginintuang ugali’ (golden traits) offered to us by our divine heritage.
Endeared spiritual Aspirants should internalize the virtue well and live it in daily living. Humble yet magnanimous persons will eventually be golden traits of the habitués of New Earth. In contrast, braggarts, arrogant ones will be driven out of Earth and transferred to the dense world that await them, there to brag and condescend on others to their hearts’ delight.

ON MEASURING LOVE

ON MEASURING LOVE
Erle Frayne Argonza /Ra

Love, concern and sincerest care
For the loved one and all loved fellows:
Could these be measured
Like the metered current
That powers the home?
If it were so could devotion be paid
In sheets over sheets of monies?

Perhaps the cats, dogs
And other wondrous pets at home
Can offer the answer:
Wondrous pets don’t count at all
Their kisses and devotion to friends
O! How they keep on giving!
They simply keep on giving!
[Writ. 04 June 1988, Proj. 8, Quezon City, M.Manila]

REFLECTION

The Law of Reciprocity posits: “Do for others what you want them to do for you.” A sacrosanct low in all spheres of existence, it is fully substantiated in the conduct of devotion.

As I was saying in that youthful poem of mine, devotion is a matter of quality of relationship, not a matter of quantity of giving. Take notice of your very own pets and see how totally devoted they are to you, never counting the love they offer to you. Such a behavior we must exude before the Almighty Providence and the sublime created Beings in all dimensions, inclusive of our own fellow humans.

For the egotistical types, giving love is a matter of quantity, such a love therefore being not ‘true love’. It is manipulative behavior, exuded to control people, enslave ‘the other’ in disproportionately asymmetric relations, and manifested with the expectation that others will reciprocate in kind. These are the types whom the Spiritual Hierarchy will expel from Terra post-2012, transferred to the world fit for their own psyche and awareness.

ON RETIREMENT

ON RETIREMENT
Erle Frayne Argonza / Ra

Why dream of retiring at age 60 or 65?
Has life not gloriously revealed
The exquisite beauty within you
That shines all the more
With each day of doing?
Will retirement not compel you
Into dark dens of nothingness
Push you to the brink
Of cancerous boredom that kills
In every second of its conquest?

Continue to share to all fellowmen
The sublime makings of your trade
Be these in simple or intricate form.

For Life has endowed you
With blessings aplenty
Since the first day that you saw
The undying Light of the sun.

[Writ. 04 June 1988, Proj. 8, Quezon City, M.Manila.]

REFLECTION
We live in a world of ‘rat race’, working in order to gain money and ensue with daily survival. After decades of laboring, work itself becomes a drudgery rather than a matter of joy as we ought to be living a life as co-creator of the Almighty Providence. At the age of late middle age, the ‘retirement syndrome’ seeps through the psyche, sapping the energies and morale of the person.
That is how bad the situation is on 3rd dimensional Terra. But that situation will end very soon, as Terra ascends to a higher realm, to stabilize finally at 5th dimension where she was originally in primordial times. As a prerequisite for the ascension, we ought to have grasped the virtue of labor, as I’ve said in a previous note.
Retirement syndrome will be a thing of the past in the New Earth. Formal work as we know it today will only be for four (4) hours or so, thus leaving the person ample time to engage in spiritual work (including a conscientious study of the Teaching), artistic work, and enjoy family life as well. Nocturnal rest will only need four (4) hours of sleep or so, and by the time the person wakes up s/he will meditate as prana or chi will be the chief source of energy to propel one to last the day.
Thus, there will be room for pursuing everyone’s creative passions and feel the joy of family life—with angelic babies & tots to child-rear—as well. Who will ever again think of retirement in the new world? Rather than think or retirement, look forward to your ascension into a Self-realized ‘master of wisdom’, hence fully evolving into a cosmic being.

SONGBIRD’S MELODY

SONGBIRD’S MELODY
Erle Frayne Argonza / Ra

Songbird of the country
Please sing your tunes tirelessly
On valleys and hills
Sing afloat your theatre of amusement!

You are forever rewarded
With rice, shelter, care
By humble folks who truly cherish you.

Sing!
Sing for them! – the poor and wretched—

They who were left forlorn
By trusted lords
By false guardians of welfare
By deified magnates;
They who are now casting
New lives for themselves
New hopes toward betterment.

O! Songbird so dear!
Lift them up from slumber!

[Writ. 26 May 1988, Proj. 8, Quezon City, M.Manila.]

REFLECTION
I never ceased to marvel over songbirds perched on trees nearby my residence, their songs serving as balms that can sooth inner wounds. As part of divine grace on Terra, we are o! so blessed with so many songbirds. In the early morning, they role-play as my alarm clock, wakening me through their sweet melodies.
Aspirants in the Path ought to meditate on the sublime meanings of the songbird. Upon advancing in the Path and striving to contribute to the Work, the Aspirant better face people like a songbird does to the folks. It is necessary to provide service to those who are in need, as well as to those who thirst for knowledge and wisdom, service being the 6th Ray of divinity.
Be like unto the songbird, who dedicates melodies so unselfishly to those who can hear, especially the marginalized peoples. Those deified magnates who quack service by engaging in humanitarian pursuits for posterity and fame, those who are undeniably Service-for-Self or SFS persons, will be taken out by Gaia from Terra post-2012, and will be transferred by the Spiritual Hierarchy to a world that befits their egoistic nature.

CHEERFULNESS

CHEERFULNESS
Erle Frayne Argonza / Ra

Cheerfulness
Is never allowed to be dormant
Among children
In whose currents it
Freely flows
When it erupts
Like sunbursts
That all other cosmic bodies
Gladly accept
As life blessings.

[Writ. 09 Oct. 1987, Proj. 8, Quezon City, M.Manila.]

REFLECTION
A person who is truly in the Path of Light, in thought and in practice, will naturally turn out to be cheerful. If a person refuses, consciously or unconsciously, to release dense energy blockages from within, then higher Light cannot flow down the lower self as much as it should, thus causing a state of ‘grim and determined’ mood.
As a social activist of long standing, I had deep scorn for fellow activist leaders who were ‘grim and determined’. They turned out to be fanatical hardliners, and were defenders of social tenets as stiff dogma. When they spoke before the public, they discoursed in the ‘brimstone and fire’ manner, lacking humor and life.

Strive to release dense energies from within you, caused by very long conditions of psychological disorder that you may have possessed for so many lives, so as to effectively let higher Light flow through you. There are meditation tools available to achieve results.
Do not be imposing your presence upon a guru of the Teaching by stubbornly sticking on to your dense states of disordered selves. Being so, you will lack the cheerfulness that is expected of any worker of Light, and will dogmatize the Teaching as well as make a cult out of the founding Master of the group or teachings represented by your guru.

REFLECTIONS ABOUT WORK

REFLECTIONS ABOUT WORK
Erle Frayne Argonza / Ra

There can be
no savoring the foods
offered by Terra
without working hard for their generation;

no consumption of bounties
in torrential showers
without striving
for their production;

no recital of flowery
words about justice
without active contention
for their fruition;

no pleasant rest
of mind and body
without processing by
the sweatshops of labour;

no blissful state
of realized utopias
without rendering sufferings
from waylaid obstacles.
[Writ. 27 Sept, 1987, University of the Philippines, QC.]

REFLECTION
The poem was largely my crafting of the virtue of labor in the poetic form. At the time of my writing this piece, I was largely enamored to the labor theory of value, which I hold on to this day.
Any spiritual Aspirant ought to realize the wisdom behind labor as way to reproducing in the self the power of creation of the Prime Creator. Being thus a reproduction of such divine powers, each of us is a co-creator of the Almighty in the lower dimensions of reality.
Being so, we strive to enact co-creation in the realm of practice. We were sent here for a higher purpose, so we maximize our presence in the dense spheres to labor as a sublime expression of the powers of creation. Even our sojourning the Path is a matter of engaging in work—in spiritual work—as we put into practice the principles of higher mysteries.
As we move on in our journey living highly productive lives, so does Divine grace come forth, showering us with blessings. Till finally one becomes Self-realized, a process that is itself brought forth by a combination of our efforts (25%), our guru’s intervention programs (25%), and divine grace (50%).
